Papworth Hospital Garden Restaurant, Papworth, Cambridgeshire
18 examples of my work (framed A3 & A4 prints) are currently on display and available for sale in Papworth Hospital's Garden Restaurant.
The restaurant is open to staff, patients and visitors with large numbers of people passing through every day. I'm pleased to say that my work has attracted some very complimentary comments and my prints are also proving to be very popular leaving presents for departing staff!
Papworth is a hospital with which I have a very long standing connection (my wife being a Papworth patient) and is undoubtedly one of the finest specialist cardiac hospitals in the world.

Papworth Hospital CTBI Unit, Papworth, Cambridgeshire
As a result of the success of my ongoing Exhibition in the Garden Restaurant - see above - I was invited to display a further 20 examples of my work (all framed A3 prints) in the reception, corridors, stairway and other public areas of Papworth's CTBI (CardioThoracic BioIncubator) Unit.
This is a specialist innovation and enterprise facility providing office space and bespoke laboratory facilities to pioneer cutting-edge developments in diagnostic technology and medical treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Note - These two Exhibitions are running for an indefinite period, after which it is my intention to donate some of the prints on display to the hospital for the continuing enjoyment of staff, patients and visitors.
Finally, my thanks to Liz Bush (the Papworth Hospital Arts Co-ordinator) for all the help in arranging these Exhibitions and for dealing with sales, etc.

Past Exhibitions
November 2008 - My first solo exhibition!
During the period from the 1st to the 8th November 2008 I held my first solo exhibition here in my home village of Longstanton, Cambridge.
It was held at the Cambridge Golf Club clubhouse by kind invitation of the course owner Mr Ken Green and was far more successful than I anticipated, with more than 300 visitors during the course of the week and some very complimentary remarks about many of the 60 images on display (all of which now feature on this website).
Sales of prints and photocards also far exceeeded my expectations with 10% of the sale proceeds being donated to the RSPB and it is certainly very encouraging to know that so much of my work has sufficient public appeal that people are willing to buy it!
My thanks to everyone who attended and especially to Ken Green for giving me the opportunity and encouragement to showcase my work.
Here's some examples of the photos I had on display:-

March 2009 - 'Mad March Hares' Exhibition at Haddenham Galleries
I was pleased to be invited to participate in this Exhibition which ran for 3 weeks from the 7th to the 29th March 2009.
Haddenham Galleries is located in the village of Haddenham, near Ely and has been described in regional newspapers and magazines as 'a must place to visit' and 'one of the finest and most interesting galleries in the eastern region'.
It is not just another gallery where you can buy a painting to go on your wall but "an Aladdin's cave" of three galleries, a sculpture garden, gift shop and tea room.
The Art Gallery is now recognised as one of the finest in East Anglia and hosts approximately nine exhibitions each year, held in the light exhibition space and showing work for sale by national and local artists, makers and photographers.
Three of my Brown Hare images featured in the Exhibition as both framed and mounted A3 or A4 prints and as Photocard/notelets -
Please see the Mammals Gallery for larger versions of these 3 shots
Sales were very good with some very complimentary comments - my thanks to everyone who attended and to Melinda and Charlie at Haddenham Galleries.

5th & 6th June 2009 - 'Photographic Delight' Exhibition at All Saints Church, Longstanton, Cambridge
I was delighted to be asked by the Friends of All Saints Church to be one of only two exhibitors at this event, my co-exhibitor being local professional photographer Ian McCarney whose mind-blowing and very different work can be seen at www.cambridge360.com
The local Heritage Society also had a display of archive photographs of village people, events and activities going back over the years and many of which were the work of local photographer Tom Eaton.
The event started with a preview evening on Friday the 5th of June at which I was asked to give a short presentation on the theme of 'the stories behind the photos' and with the main subjects being Woodpeckers, Otters, Barn Owls, Hares and - of course - Kingfishers. My presentation ended with a short audio visual display covering a year in the life of a pair of Kingfishers and the whole thing was very well received by those present.
On Saturday the 6th of June the exhibition was very well attended with a steady stream of visitors throughout the day and I'm pleased to say that my framed A3 prints proved very popular with total sales of my work very nearly reaching £1000, of which I have donated £100 to the Friends of All Saints Church.
There was also a photographic competition with categories for adults and children and I was given the difficult task of choosing the winners!
It was a very successful event for all concerned and I am grateful to the 'Friends' for inviting me to participate.
